An eight-year-old boy from Phoenix, Ariz., is being charged with premeditated murder. The boy used a 22-caliber rifle to shoot and kill his father; he also abused another man with the rifle. St. Johns Police Chief Roy Melnick stated that the father was an avid hunter, so the boy might have been trained to hunt. Reverend John Paul Sauter stated that the father taught his son how to properly use the rifle to kill prairie dogs. Since he had a "clean" record, officials are questioning whether he had been exposed to domestic abuse or whether the father was severely harsh with his punishments. On Friday a judge ordered that he go under psychological evaluation. There is no official statement on how he will be sentenced.
